Is Anti-virus Really Needed???
The questions have arose around the fact of whether or not Anti-Virus software and securities are really needed in order to protect technology such as computers, laptops, cellphones, etc., from becoming infected by different forms of Mal ware. This Mal ware includes viruses, Trojan horses, ransom ware, worms, root kits, spy ware and all types of malicious viruses that can be by computers. Well the answer to those questions are a definite YES.
Some may believe that if they practice good computer behaviors such as being sure which applications to download or refrain from opening suspicious emails, clicking on unknown links and blocking pop up images, then they could easily protect their computer from being compromised but that is just as foolish as believing that if you eat right and do not go outside in bad weather then you can stop yourself from catching a cold, it's just not guaranteed.
According to an article in the Charlotte Observer, "Blocking Images Can Be A Good Defense," but good behavior alone is not enough to protect you from Mal ware. Truth is, even the most legitimate websites can be compromised and subjected to viruses. Therefore Anti-virus security is good software to have when operating computer devices.
Studies show that running Antivirus on a regular basis not only cleans any infection from your computer but proactively protects your system against malicious programs. Antivirus has been proven to improve IT system functions and processes and keeps them running fast and smooth.
One thing to keep in mind is not all Antivirus software is good software, cause remember that nothing is perfect and if your computer is compromised then viruses use up vital space and cause performance to suffer. For best practices you should make sure to follow a few steps to keep your computer secure.
1) Make sure to download Microsoft Essentials, which is free, or another reputable form of antivirus. 2) Make sure automatic updating is turned on. 3) Keep firewall turned on at all times and do not open any suspicious emails or links. These are great tips; however, is there anyway you can post what/where we can find reliable antivirus softwares? And can you specify prices? I am attempting to keep my computer safe from malware, but I don't want to spend a fortune and I want a reliable software.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I appreciate the suggestions. I agree getting these programs on your computer is so important! I used to get a virus on my computer at least once or twice a year but once I started using McAfee and some other cleaners it seems to really help and I haven't had any problems since. I honestly think most of my problems came from Facebook but who knows. You mentioned earlier about putting it on your cellphones as well, I didn't even know you could do that? Any suggestions for what to use on your phone?
ReplyDeleteGood post. I believe antivirus is important. There's so many antivirus software programs out provided by companies. Not only is it helping protect our computers but it acts as a stable defense strategy against people who create these malwares. So in a sense as long as they are out there more and more companies are creating better programs to block these viruses.

ReplyDeleteAdam, I would definitely try and get that information for you. I currently use Norton Antivirus and it only cost $49.99 and they have a free trial so you can check it out first. Also I heard that Microsoft was pretty good as well, I am unsure of the price but I would look that up.
ReplyDeleteLauren, when I downloaded the Norton antivirus, I was able to download my account to up to 3 devices, including mobile. I have Norton on my phone as well and it does good if you want to give it a try. If you have an Iphone or android you can download it straight from the app store.
